Here are some updates in case you missed a few of our October events!

Freshers’ Campus and Coventry Tour
The Freshers’ Tour was held on October  8th where 39 freshers were shown around our beautiful Warwick campus, including places like the Cryfield Pavilion, Tocil Woods, Cannon Park, University House, Westwood Games Hall and many others. A giant thank you to the seniors who volunteered to help guide the freshers around.
Everyone then adjourned to Cosmo Restaurant in Coventry for a buffet lunch before the Coventry city tour commenced!
Thank you to everyone for participating, we hope you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves!

Traffic Light Welcome Party
As the first Meet & Greet social of the academic year, MSA held a Traffic Light Party on the 12th of October in MS.02 to officially welcome all the freshers and also to welcome back all the returning seniors. It was free for all members as well as Malaysian, Singaporean and Bruneian freshers. On the menu were Nasi Briyani, Rendang, Mee Goreng and Banana Cake that (we trust) kept everyone happy! It was so nice to see all 250 attendees dressed in traffic light colours and mingling. Thank you to everyone who came, with MSA you know there are more free food socials to come! :)

Freshers Camp 2011 Update

Thank you for coming for MSA’s 2nd Annual Freshers Camp! :)

We hope you had an unforgettable fun-filled weekend, meeting other Warwick freshers, getting to know your seniors, learning about life at Warwick and the UK, while sweating it out in the various (sometimes seemingly impossible) outdoor activities held!

Congratulations to the winning team ‘Char Kuey Teow’, consisting of Chew Pei Shen, Tee Tze Li, Chan Yi Sze, Lu Sher Wen and Ding Ju Shuen!

Thank you seniors, for taking the time to help out and share your knowledge and experiences through the information sessions!

And of course, thank you freshers, for taking the initiative to attend the camp and for having an open mind throughout. We sincerely hope you learnt a lot from that weekend and we very much look forward to seeing you in Warwick! :)

Accenture visits Warwick!

Accenture, one of the world’s leading management consulting, technology services and outsourcing companies held an information and networking session here at MS.01 (Zeeman Building) on the 26th of November 2010. This event is part of their Return Home Campaign which aims to lure foreign graduates back to the Asia-Pacific region where there are bigger and better growth opportunities compared to the west.

Emceed by ex-Accenture intern Chan Zhong Yang, the event kicked off with a video presentation and an introduction to the company by Senior Manager Johan Khoo, who leads the Strategy service line in Malaysia. Ethos & Co Presentation

On November 17th, Warwick MSA was delighted to organise a talk by Ethos & Company, a Malaysian boutique strategy consulting firm that specialises in serving private and public sector clients on business and organisational transformation.

Natasha Kamaluddin

The topic of the presentation was “Tipping Into Obscurity: Can Malaysia Break Free of the Middle-Income Trap?” and the speaker was Natasha Kamaluddin, partner and director of Ethos & Company. Also present was Nik Ibrahim Nik Mohamed Din, manager at Ethos & Company.

Natasha, who graduated from Cambridge University where she obtained a First Class Honours degree in Economics, began with an informal introduction about herself and the company, which is based in Jalan Semantan, Kuala Lumpur. She subsequently moved on to explain the current economic state of Malaysia and the strategies being deployed to propel the economy. Other subjects that were examined during the talk include Key Economic Areas of Malaysia and also job prospects for future graduates. The night concluded with the ever-handy Q&A session.

Overall, it was an intriguing, thought-provoking talk and we hope that everyone effectively gained more awareness, insight and knowledge about the Malaysian economy. Thank you Ethos & Co for taking the time to come to Warwick!

An award presentation for our Nottingham Games winners was also held in conjunction with the celebration of two of Malaysia’s most important festivals – Deepavali and Hari Raya Haji!

After the presentation, there were games, there was food, and there was fun!

The event was a huge success thanks to YOUR support and we do look forward to seeing all of you in the next food social (hopefully another one before the term ends)!
