Nottingham Games 2010

Nottingham Games 2010 was a day to remember! With four full buses of Warwick students, we were easily the largest contingent at Nottingham. Excitement and enthusiasm filled the air, even at 6am, as everyone looked forward to a day of perfect weather, meeting old friends, exploring beautiful Nottingham and of course, cheering on our tenacious Warwick teams.

Basketball: Edmund, Zulkarnain, Keef, Vincent, Afak, Wayne, Felix, Tze Xuan, Tony, Ming Yi, Syahir

We are thrilled to have sent players for every single sport at NMG 2010 (football, basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, squash, table tennis, lightning snooker, lightning chess, scrabble, congkak and batu seremban). A big thank you to each player for representing Warwick, your efforts are immensely appreciated!

Our tireless Warwick supporters also definitely made an impression as we (in our red attires) were one of the loudest contingents there continually chanting and spurring on our teams by the sideline. On top of that, we had a huge red Team Warwick banner which undeniably stuck out in a crowd.

We would like to congratulate our winners for their well-deserved success:

Volleyball – Champion

Cyrus Lim, Cyrus Mok, Kenshi, Jay Ho, Jerry Zhu, Shoko, Karen Lam, Thum Wei Wen

Squash – 1st Runner Up

Edvin Lim Geok Chin

Netball – 2nd Runner Up

Farah Mat Husin, Tan Sze Yin, Cho Wen Jing, Mok Xin Ling, Germaine Kok, Nurul Izzas Mohd, Nurain Farhanah Badioezaman, Fairuz Hashim, Irina Lim

Snooker – 3rd & 4th Placing

Mohd Khairi Ab Karim & Chuah Kee Wei

Once again, thank you to all the players for your hard work and resilience, the supporters for your never-ending encouragement and participation, and Nottingham for playing host to such a great event!

Daniel (Chess), Wei Nie (Scrabble), Brenda (Scrabble)

Our Warwick contingent successfully emerged 3rd overall and we were also awarded ‘Most Enthusiastic Contingent’ to boot!

We hope everyone fully enjoyed the experience, see you next year! :)

MSA Sports Sessions in Week 3!

We have updated the MSA Calendar, which consists of MSA Sports, MNight Practices and other relevant events. The calendar will be updated at least every Sunday 3pm.

So please do check our calendar out, you will be able to filter events based on the category of the event (one of the above) so you’ll be able to see only those relevant to you.

Otherwise, on the right-hand side of this website you’ll see a mini calendar, so everytime you visit this site you will definitely be able to see what’s going on for the week!

On another note, here’s a little message from our Sports Officer:

For those who interested in playing volleyball, Cyrus Lim is trying to assemble a
team to participate in the Notts games. Please contact him at 07794990463.
As for the sports sessions, please be punctual as bookings are hard to get.

So yeah, your sports reps have made the effort to book the courts for the sports, so it’s all up to you to turn up and come enjoy the sports sessions!

Nottingham Games 2009!

Nottingham Games 2009 was definitely one memorable day. Our contingent of two buses left Warwick at 6am- we were sleepy, half-soaked for those without umbrellas, but nevertheless in high spirits and decked in our bright red shirts and hoodies! Some of us left for Nottingham early before the weekend.

We are proud to have sent players for football, netball, basketball, badminton, squash, snooker, tennis, pingpong, chess, batu seremban and even congkak!

Effort, teamwork and time well-spent training was rewarded by the victories of our netball team and squash for girls by Ng Hui Mei – both champs. Our footballers also did a great job by going into the quarter finals against Manchester Metropolitan University. On top of it all, we are awarded for being the most sporting contingent of all MSAs in the UK. Well done everyone!

Nothing could have beat the sight of red-clad Warwick supporters cheering their hearts out for our teams all the way through.

The day in Nottingham was perfected by the presence of Malaysian food, and, as anticipated, everyone  indeed succumbed to the irresistible food. A stall opened by our own MSA members definitely was one of the most popular stalls around!

__

We would like to congratulate our players for their participation and extend one big BIG thank you to everyone who attended or supported, in any way, the Warwick MSA contingent to Nottingham Games 2009!

See you guys on the bus next year!
