Secretary’s Message

Sim Li Tjen

Hello there :) The past year that I have spent in MSA as Communications Officer has been extremely invaluable to me, I have learnt so much about the ins and outs of MSA, and I enjoyed every minute of it!! From throwing together countless socials and talks, to helping cook delicious food to keep everyone (and their tummies) happy, to co-organising one of the best Malaysia Nights in the UK, to participating in MNight (check out our amazing dikir barat :D), to cheering on our teams in Nottingham Games and Warwick Games, to witnessing Datuk Lee Chong Wei clinch the gold medal in the All England Badminton Tournament in Birmingham, to meeting new people at every event, MSA is most definitely an amazing experience for EVERYONE, be it Malaysian or Non-Malaysian!! As the secretary I hope to contribute to that by making sure everyone gets updated on the current and upcoming events, through emails, the website, Facebook and Twitter! To ease communication with us, we have also installed a permanent feedback form on our website! This upcoming year is going to be unforgettable, so get ready! :) And welcome to MSA :)

Treasurer’s Message

Thum Wei Wen

Hey MSA members,
First of all thank you so much for placing your vote and also your faith on me for being the next MSA treasurer for the year 2011/2012. I’m looking forward to serving all of you throughout the year and hope MSA will make a significant and positive impact on you, just like how it did on me in the previous year. It was an enriching experience that formed a big part of my first year in Warwick and I’ve learned a lot throughout my journey as ex-s. Hence, the decision to run for another year. For those who weren’t at the AGM, my vision is “To Make MSA a Society Worth Sponsoring For” and through that I will definitely keep clean, organized accounts and ensure that all departments under MSA gets fairly distributed funds to continue running under MSA’s big umbrella family. :) My other goal is also to obtain as many sponsorship as possible to fund our even larger and more exciting events throughout the year 2011/2012. Hope to meet all of you (and work on my socializing skills) and I look forward to make your MSA experience an enjoyable and memorable one.

Cultural Officer 1′s Message

Arif Zahlan

MSA isn’t just about society, but also about friendship and family. Life is always hectic and fast-paced for me and it’s common to feel overwhelmed, isolated and alone. Thus I discover the healing and empowering role that community can bring to my life. The sense of belonging I feel when I make the time to take an active role in this community give me a deeper sense of meaning and purpose. Having this job is not only about name, power and popularity but it’s my way to contribute something through our life journey.

Thousand miles our family far apart, we put you always in our heart.
We’re here not just a community, but we could always be a family.
Don’t just only be an entity, let us create a new history!
LOVE WARWICK MSA!!!

Event Coordinator 3′s Message

Asyraf Syahmi

Being an event coordinator for the MSA is something I take great pride of doing because I know not everyone would and could do the same thing. MSA is not just about its committee, but it represents all Malaysians here in Warwick and therefore I am honoured to be representing YOU, YOUR VOICES and YOUR OPINIONS in not only events, but any matter regarding our Malaysian community. Everything that we’re doing and will do is for the sake of improving our lives here, but we can only do so much without your support and participation. Clichéd and overused I know, but here lies an opportunity for US to make a difference to our whole experience in Warwick better. So, would you join me in making a difference, together? :-)

“What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.” – Albert Pine.

What’s up, people?

I believe that a good communication system is one of the key components for a successful organization. As a communication officer, it is my duty to at least maintain the established communication system in Warwick MSA. The Warwick MSA is one of the most vibrant societies in the University of Warwick. With the increasing number of members, the importance in having a good communication network becomes more significant. It is my responsibility to ensure every member is updated on the most recent MSA affairs through various media such as Facebook, Twitter, and the Warwick MSA website itself. There are a lots of involvements with the computer which will truly satisfy an IT geek like me. As promised, I will work with other committee members to make life in Warwick University fun and exciting for every Malaysians.

Assistant Treasurer’s Message

Yvonne Goh

Hello guys! (:

First off, I am really thankful to be successfully elected as the assistant treasurer for the year 2011/2012. Being a part of this association really means a lot to me, as I believe it does make a very big impact in my university years. During my time as the assistant treasurer in MSA, my responsibility would be in assisting the treasurer in matters regarding sponsorship and funds. Funding is one of the most important aspects in keeping the society up and running. Therefore, I would be devoting most of my time in getting more sponsorship for our events. Making sure every account and other financial matters are in order and are efficiently run is also the key element of my duty. Not only that, I truly believe that being a team player is vital to ensure a smooth sailing in the process of an event. Hence, I am definitely looking forward to working closely with the team in the future. I believe the journey ahead would be a fun and enjoyable one for all of us. So welcome aboard to the MSA family guys! Looking forward in serving all of you soon. (:
